Life takes unexpected turns sometimes. I was just reading my last post from August 2010 and so many things happened! Who could imagine?
This is a perfect opportunity to be back. Yesterday was my birthday: a very special one! Today I begin a new year and a new life! After being sick for 10 months and 2 surgeries, I am fine! Most of all, thankful! I would not have been through this without your love and support! I would not be fine without your prayers!
Not all was bad! Life get a new meaning and perspective when you get close to think about your own death. Life gets even more beautiful and meaningful when you survive!
And in feeling good, having my appetite back, eating, getting out to walk whenever I feel like it, I got the bug again! That bug that makes me think about knitting and yarn all the time! I fell in love with knitting, my books and my stash all over again!
Next couple of months I want to work hard and get new patterns on my website, organize new class proposals, start teaching again.
I am open to suggestions for what your needs are, ideas, anything. Please let me know your thoughts!
So sorry you have been so ill. I hadn’t heard but will keep you in my prayers now. We love your style of knitting. I had just told a friend that I had taken a class from you when she was telling me that the Portuguese style of knitting is what is recommended for people with arthritis. Will look forward to hearing from you. Will you be at Stitches West in August?

Thank you for your comment. No, I wont be at Stitches West as I did not propose classes back when I was sick. I will be at the Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY! I have heard wonderful things about it and I am so looking forward to it!

It’s wonderful that you are feeling much better!! I ordered your DVD, book, and a few patterns and have got the feel of knitting the Portuguese way BUT I’ve a long way to go to get my tension correct. I love the purling and can’t wait until cooler weather – this heat up in NW corner of Ohio just doesn’t make me want to get a yarn project started yet.
I’m looking forward to see more patterns, etc on your site. Again it is such good news that you are feeling better!!

Dear Nancy, thank you for your order and your suggestions. You will see more patterns in the fall and most of them promote the purl stitch. Be patient with yourself and do not give it up. Practice will make your tension perfect.

I’m so happy you are back living and not just surviving! I just recently learned Portuguese knitting after 20+ years of “throwing”. I love it. I find I can knit faster with less stress on my hands. Enjoy getting to know your stash all over again.

Hi Andrea,
Que bom ter noticias suas depois de tanto tempo e que maravilhoso saber que voce esta sentindo muito melhor. Great hearing from you and it’s absolutelutely fantastic to know that you’re feeling so much better. Just saw this week that you’ll be teaching at Rhinebeck. My sister Louise and I usually go on Sunday. We may just sign up for one or both of your classes. That is, if they’re not already full! Looking forward to your renewed interest in knitting.

I am very happy that you have gotten over the medical crises you have been facing. I agree with you, one gets a new perspective after facing hard and scary times. I think the trick is to remember it long after the crises is over.
I got a strapless dress at Target too cheap to pass up. But I won’t wear anything strapless…..so I got some matching ribbon to make straps for it but am wondering how to make some fluttery cap sleeves to match it. Any ideas would be appreciated. I was thinking Feather and Fan rectangles to tack onto the ribbon. But not sure that would work.
